Within Our Shadow

Within our shadow there is so much that defines us. I sometimes wonder if that is why our shadows are dark in appearance. Sometimes I think it is a reflection of what is deep within our own souls, and the darkness is merely a representation of what we choose to keep secret within ourselves or about ourselves.

Just because it’s a secret … doesn’t necessarily make it bad. Some secrets are just meant to be our own. Some are good and some are bad … some we can face, and some we choose not too. I believe our secrets, and the reasons we have keep them are as big and mysterious as the universe around us. Sometimes we feel safe to share and sometimes we don’t … neither is right or wrong, just a personal reflection of what we wish to show.

I know that there is a scientific explanation for our own shadows, and that any object can cast a shadow, but I am not interested in scientific meaning here … I’m talking about a soul searching meaning, the mystery meaning, the unknown ….

I have always been attracted to the adventure of the unknown … I think it is what makes me tick!

As a child I liked to play with shadows - shadow puppets! And I could entertain myself for hours ... just watching the cast of a shadow change as the day went on made me wonder why and how it changed. I never figured it out on my own, and then my Grandfather explain it to me. But the answer provided was a very scientific explanation and I wasn’t really inspired by it, so I continued to let shadows themselves inspire me to wonder and play.
